Victor Salmones (Mex) Nude Male Torso Editioned Bronze Sculpture


Very fine, limited edition (5/10) sculpture by well known Mexican artist Victor Salmones (1937-1989), exact age not known. Excerpts of the artist's biography: Salmones developed his love and talent for creating sculpture by working with clay in high school. He attended the Instituto de Bellas Artes where he was an apprentice to the Bauhaus master, Hoffman. His training included the lost wax process of casting and typically worked in bronze. Victor was the most widely known sculptor living and working in Mexico during his lifetime. His sculptures won him universal acclaim and are held in the collections of museums, corporations, cities, universities and private collectors in some 30 countries.

Excellent nude male figure study of a classic academic torso. This piece is very skillfully executed with deft handling of the human form and the artist leaving the myriad small work marks of the process on the surface, not smoothed it a spontaneous and vibrant quality.
