Urban was an aesthetic and technical genius, a meticulous craftsman who created breathtaking images like this one of 1943 Mr. America title holder, Jules Bacon. A sophisticated and flattering composition, beautiful lighting and extraordinary printing. Iconic!

Size/Condition: Doubleweight fiber, low lustre silver gelatin print. Print is archivally corner mounted and presented in a white, 4 ply, acid free mat: Sight 6&15/16"x 9", Print 7&7/16 "x 9&7/16", Overall matted size 16"x 19&3/4". Print: Excellent condition. Model name, initials in pencil by unknown hand to reverse, otherwise unmarked, undated. Provenance: Wessel O'Connor Gallery label, gallery address of 242 West 26th street New York, NY, likely included in the June/August 2001 exhibition; 50s Physique, which included Al Urban amongst many others.
