Antique Carved Wood Warrior Viking Faces Architectural Elements

Set of two (2), carved wood figural architectural elements (?), maker age and origin not known, but definitely vintage and assumed to be late 19thC (+/-).

Ornate carvings that look to be vikings or a similar norseman warrior type subject. The faces are similar but different, each very skillfully carved in high relief with great detail and quite expressive. The many decades of paint have created a completely unique patina, beautifully weathered and aged, making these artifacts great accent pieces in any decor. Each piece comes with it's own steel display stand. Awesome stuff!

Size/Condition: Faces measure approximately 9"x 6". In as seen condition with some losses, paint nicks, flakes and crackle. Unmarked, undated. Purchase price includes domestic, insured Parcel Select shipping. Please contact us for international rates.

Terrific drawing by Palm Beach society artist, Richard Banks (American, 1929-), assumed to be 1960s vintage.

Kevin King Beau Men Homoerotic Gay Illustration “Writer’s Block” Art Painting

Rare original painting by Kevin King (American, b1959, aka Beau), circa 1995. King hails from California with a background in art and working in television and film doing costume design. Discovered by an editor, his erotic works have been published in Freshmen, Advocate Men and Torso magazines. Our understanding is that a car accident in 2002 caused injuries that prevent King from painting and that he’s now doing photography.

Fine erotic illustration called “Writer’s Block” featuring a handsome and hunky author contemplating some deep thoughts: Tony, Kevin (self portrait of the artiste?) or Teddy? Hmmmmm. Skillfully painted with certain talent, this piece is either oil or acrylic on a heavy watercolor paper (various online sources cite both mediums). Done for Advocate Men magazine, issue not known, uncertain if this was for a feature article or used as a spot illustration. A genuine rarity.

Size/Condition: Sight/art measures 17”x 23”, overall paper size is 20.5”x 29.5”. Normal production marks of crop lines, pencil and stray paint. Soft bend lower right corner, some light crease lines on left edge (could be minimized if mounted by framer or conservator) shown with raking light, last photo. Signed and dated in paint within the illustration and signed/dated in pencil, lower right. Will be shipped rolled. Purchase price includes domestic, insured, USPS shipping via Priority Mail. International customers should contact us for shipping rates, prior to making a purchase.

Victor Salmones (Mex) Nude Male Torso Editioned Bronze Sculpture

Very fine, limited edition (5/10) sculpture by well known Mexican artist Victor Salmones (1937-1989), exact age not known. Excerpts of the artist's biography: Salmones developed his love and talent for creating sculpture by working with clay in high school. He attended the Instituto de Bellas Artes where he was an apprentice to the Bauhaus master, Hoffman. His training included the lost wax process of casting and typically worked in bronze. Victor was the most widely known sculptor living and working in Mexico during his lifetime. His sculptures won him universal acclaim and are held in the collections of museums, corporations, cities, universities and private collectors in some 30 countries.

Excellent nude male figure study of a classic academic torso. This piece is very skillfully executed with deft handling of the human form and the artist leaving the myriad small work marks of the process on the surface, not smoothed out...gives it a spontaneous and vibrant quality. Has a rich patina. A superb small sculpture. Size/Condition: Measures 10.75" tall. In excellent, undamaged condition. In mold signature and edition number to lower, outside right thigh. Undated. Purchase price includes insured domestic USPS Parcel Post. Please contact us for international rates.
